Although I don’t often work in beiges and browns, I had this lovely piece of fabric showing an interesting silhouette of an horse. I just cut up some pieces of batiks that I thought would work together, imagined they were rocks, used a black background in between the rocks. I machine stitched around all the rocks, drew some ancient symbols with an ink pen to bring in the idea of something ancient about the whole design. A light fabric against the black background provides a nice frame around the whole image.
